Data Analysis · Lesson 2 of 3

Reading the report

The verdict, the findings and your columns: what each part of an analysis report tells you.

The comic

  1. Panel 1 of 4.

    The verdict

Murphy says: The report opens with a verdict in plain English, such as “Most of this data is ready to use.”, and a count of what it found.
  2. Panel 2 of 4.
Murphy says: Findings come in three groups: “Must fix”, “Worth a look” and “Good to know”. Each says “What we found”, “Why it matters to you” and “What you can do”.
  3. Panel 3 of 4.
Murphy says: Want proof? “Show me some examples” shows real rows. Personal data stays hidden until you choose “Reveal”, and that's recorded. “Your columns” shows what each column holds.
  4. Panel 4 of 4.
Murphy says: Not a problem for you? “Dismiss” hides a finding here and on later analyses of the same data. Changed your mind? “Undo”.
